The directors of the Massaro Community Farm, Inc. invite you to become a member of this exciting organization devoted to restoring and preserving a historic farm in Woodbridge, as well as supplying free food to food banks in our area and providing educational opportunities to youth and adults in nutritious eating and local agriculture.

We have made much progress over the past year and we hope to donate our first organic produce in the summer of 2010. However, to move from the planning stage to functioning, we need funds for infrastructure, planning, house renovations and much more that is needed to operate educational programs.

We are offering memberships at $100 (sustaining member), $50 (regular member) and $20 (student/fixed income). Your membership entitles you to attend the annual meeting of the Massaro Community Farm and to elect its board members. It also gives you the satisfaction of being part of this very worthwhile venture. It does not, however, entitle you to shares of produce. We expect that shares will be sold by the Massaro Farm CSA, Inc, beginning early in 2010.

Of course, donations of any amount are welcome. If you would like to discuss being a major donor, please contact Paul DeCoster (203-387-4460). If you would like to discuss making in-kind donations, please contact Jason Morrill (203-387-0527).

The Massaro Community Farm filed an application with the Internal Revenue Service on March 25, 2009 for tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as a public charity. We have every confidence that the IRS will approve our application. We expect to hear from the IRS shortly and, in any event, by the end of 2009. Contributions, including membership payments, to the Massaro Community Farm by members of the public while our application is pending will qualify as tax deductions, if IRS approval is received. As soon as the IRS advises us of its decision, we will notify all contributors of the final status of their contributions.

Please make your checks payable to Massaro Community Farm, Inc.
and send them to our treasurer,
David W. Schneider, 25 Cassway Road, Woodbridge, Connecticut 06525.
