Massaro Community Farm offers a variety of opportunities for learning and engagement that incorporate the various aspects of the farm – our growing fields, our Bee Apiary, our renovated Dairy Barn, the Learning Garden, the Butterfly Garden, our chickens, and the woods and wetlands of our Nature Trail.
We hold four Annual Events: Celebrate Spring, Summer Camp, Dinner on the Farm and Family Fun Day. You can find out more about each of these through the drop down menu above.
In addition to beekeeping workshops (which we host in partnership with the CT Beekeeper’s Association), we also collaborate with some fantastic community partners – like CT NOFA, the Jewish Community Center of New Haven, the New Haven Bioregional Diversity Group and the Agricultural Experiment Station – to bring you workshops on organic land care.
We are now hosting school field trips for elementary through high school classes, focusing on topics that are most relevant to our farm operation. While these focus primarily on elementary age children, we have also accommodated many high school groups, including life skills students, AP environmental classes, and students of the culinary program at Emmett O’Brien Technical High School.
And we invite anyone to participate in Open Farm Days in the Learning Garden. These sessions are a great introduction to organic gardening and a perfect way to give our younger members hands-on experience in planting, watering, weeding and harvesting. As always, whether your interest is to be in the field or in the office, volunteers are always welcome. For specific details about our programs, please visit the sections below:
